The Whistlestop Bar was established in 1979 in the South Park/Golden Hill neighborhood of San Diego, California. The bar was boarded up for the nineties only to be re-established in May of 2001. The Whistlestop is the "little bar that could" and does; featuring a full bar(ten beers on draft, bottled beers, wine, a great selection of top shelf liquor, and a well that can't be beat!), weekly dj events, board games, fashion shows, political rallies, live radio remotes, knitting jams, craft fairs, live music, movie screenings, pool, darts, video games, outstanding jukebox selection, and a hidden smoking patio! Don' t forget about The Whistlestop HAPPY HOUR!! M - F 5pm to 8pm, Sat. & Sun. 2pm to 8pm. $DOLLAR$ OFF ALL COCKTAILS & PINTS!!

i live nearby and i LOVE this bar. the bartenders are great, the prices are awesome... they give you the BEST drinks for way cheaper than most bars.. way more for your money. love the outside patio, and the different activities they have are awesome.. they even have a night w/ board games (like connect four, jenga, etc..) and a GIANT screen w/ nintendo games! AWESOME!
Only my favorite place to be on a Saturday night...or any other night of the week :) I've been going here for years and wouldn't change it as my regular spot even if you paid me.
Great environment, friendly staff, excellent DJ's and Live Bands
Game night Tuesdays, live music Fridays, DJ dance party every Saturday, Sunday night movies and blues and jazz DJs, great staff.
