This just may be my favorite Chinese food in the Boston area. The dishes are inevitably delicious and the selection is broad and authentic. There is often a wait but I say it's worth it. If you can make it for lunch the three dishes for $12 (or something like that) is a great deal.

Good luck finding a better selection of dim sum style dishes this far from Chinatown! Yangtze river has a wide selection of buffet and dim sum items that are just as tasty as their big-city brethren. The restaurant is a great place to come with many guests and share in the dishes and you won't be drowned out by noise around you.

Yes it's always crowded, and the Gourmet Dumpling House is worth waiting for. The dumplings are some of the best I had, and they have an enormous selection of other food from various regions of China. I recommend the 10 veggie dumplings for $5.95. They taste amazing (my meat eater partner enjoyed them) and come in large sizes. Skip the three appetizer combo though, they skimp on each of the appetizers and you can only pick cold dishes off the list.

If you can make it, get there on Friday night on the way home from work. There is less of crowd, better selection and better quality on that day. The quality is hit or miss, but always very cheap. The produce is sourced from the same warehouses as the produce purchased by the large supermarkets. One word of caution: the fish, while inexpensive, is not very fresh and is best used in a dish in a sauce rather than on the barbeque or in the broiler.

I frequently go to Ricky's for flowers and vegetables for my house in Cambridge. They have a pretty extensive selection of both. The plants all look healthy, far superior than what you'd find at a big box chain. According to the owner, all the plants are sourced from New England nurseries. I would rate this business four stars but the prices are pretty high and the staff aren't that helpful if you have questions.

Once you walk in the door you immediately realize that this cafe is geared for local Portuguese and Brazilian population. From the international TV news on the flatscreen to the unique selection of baked goods, you'll feel like you've just stepped into a different country. The coffee and your normal cafe baked goods are mediocre, but the selection of other foods is broad and tasty. I highly recommend the warm buns with a subtle cheese filling inside.

I'm a huge Brickskeller fanboy. OK, so the food isn't that great, and the ambiance is average, and the "beer-tails" are offensive, but the selection will blow your mind. I mean you can get anything here: Ukrainian? Check. Zimbabwe? Check. American? Oh yeah. They were listed in the 2003 Guinness Book of World Records for the most variety of bottled beers anywhere (over 1,000.) If you love beer, you must go here at least once in your life.

Prepare to be shocked when you visit this museum. Artists contributing work to the museum are rarely artists by trade, and often have eccentricities or mental illnesses that prevent them from being a part of mainstream society. The art they create is amazing, mundane, and everything in between. No matter what you will find something unique and unlike anything you have seen before.

Ze Mean Bean Cafe has an excellent selection of European dishes. I recommend the pierogue which are very fresh and tasty. They have a wide range of appetizing dishes which are fairly unique for the area. The service is excellent and the ambiance is excellent and charming.

The name "Broadway Bicycle School" misled me a bit the first time I heard it. Yes this is a school which will teach you bike repair, but it is also is a full-service sales, parts, and repair shop. This is a great place to go to keep your favorite beater or commuter special running smoothly. One nice bonus is that they offer is a wide variety of used parts such as rims, pedals, tires, etc.. For repairs, they will let you fix the bike yourself with their tools and charge for the time you used. This is very handy, but the downside is that they tend to push to charge you for labor or time on the clock even if need a quick hand with a part you just bought there. Service is often good but can be spotty as there are a number of different mechanics that seems to work there. Overall I highly recommend this shop, especially if you have a run of the mill bike which doesn't need exotic parts to make it function well.
