In a neighborhood filled with greasy take-out joints, constisting mainly of pizza and Chinese food, its nice to finally have somewhere to get amazing food that you dont have to carry out in a take-out bag. Its so refreshing to not have to travel to JP or Brookline for amazing Indian cuisine.

I know that West Roxbury is not known for its fine dining, but its worth the trek way out into the outskirts of Boston to get a taste of Himalayan Bistro. The staff is warm and attentive. The food speaks for itself.

If you go, definally start with a bread basket. It has naan, but also chapati and poori. But dont gobble it all up- - Leave space for the mains! My two faves from Himalayan are Shrimp Tandoori and the Shrimp Goa Curry....but you'll have to figure out your own.

I'm a regular. Sometimes it can get a little busy, seems like its just a husband and wife team running it. Most of the time its quick service. Its primarily take out, just one table to sit in and eat (which I have done too!). One time I was a little ticked off at how long the food took (on a Friday night, prime time), but one taste of their food once I got it home and I knew I couldn't stay away. Plus they always have good magazines to read while your waiting.
