Join us at Urban Solace Restaurant, featuring New American Comfort Food and a fantastic selection of West Coast wines and handcrafted beer. We are located in the heart of North Park’s “Restaurant Row”, near bustling neighborhoods of Hillcrest, South Park and University Heights, and just north of Downtown San Diego and Balboa Park. We offer validated parking in the North Park parking structure just steps from our front doors. We are open seven days a week and feature our famous “Bluegrass Brunch” every Sunday. After all of the hype surrounding this place, and never being able to get in until recently (July '08, for my boyfriend's birthday), I was sorely disappointed. The hostess had a terrible attitude, both on the phone and in person. She stuck us in the darkest alley outside in a sort of wind-tunnel, with no heat lamp, though the place was nowhere near capacity and it was one of the last seatings. We had to steal a candle off another table, then hop to a vacated table, mid-meal to make use of a blazing heat lamp. Our server (I wish I could remember her name!) was very warm and attentive though, and she knew the menu inside and out. She was able to suggest great wines. The Arctic Char and sides were amazing, but the much-hyped mac n cheese was weak and runny, though the little nuggets of bacon and tomato were a nice touch. It was only a little better re-heated the next day. Between the nasty hostess and the mac n' cheese, I was so irritated and disappointed that we didn't stay for dessert - and we always stay for dessert. Although there are several other menu items that sound great, I don't think I want to chance it again.

i went on the soft opening, the biscuits were really tasty. and the apple dessert was to die for, the restaurant is really charming and the service was excellent as well, i think they have made a very good addition to the north park scene. :)

The chicken dinner had so much flavor,. I think it's the best I ever tasted.
