The owner Jeffery is the most professional,creative hair stylist I have ever been too I have been a client of his for 3 years and his expertise in cut and color is amazing. Everywhere I go people will stop me and comment on my hair and ask me where I go.

I recently got my haircut and highlighted by the salon owner, Jefferey. It had been 5 months since my last cut, as I was hesitant to try a new salon here after some mediocre cuts at other Boston salons. I immediately felt confident as soon as I sat in his chair and he proceeded to give me a look that has led me recieve a lot more greatly appreciated admiring looks from others.

I have visited many salons over the past 2 years an nobody could color or cut my hair the way Umi Salon does, I have very delicate hair that takes a lot of time to do and Umi Salon took that time to make me happy and my hair comes out perfect every time I visit the salon,I have recommenced Umi to several of my friends.

The entire staff makes you feel as though you are the only person in the room. While you are there, you are treated like a VIP from the receptionist to the shampoo person, colorist, to the stylist. I have been going for several years and feel as though my business is appreciated and more importantly that everyone is genuinely happy to see me. The colorist and stylist give me a feeling of security when consulting me about what they will be doing. There is a dialog between us where they listen intently to my preferences, never insisting that I step out of my comfort zone, unless they feel I'm ready...changes happen gradually so you are not in a state of shock when viewing the finished product. On the other hand if I am feeling especially adventurous, I am presented with a solution that is both contemporary but alway complimentary to my personal characteristics. I feel as though the stylist and colorist take special care in getting to know my unique style and personality in order to provide me with cut and color that always enhances my particular brand of beauty often bringing out different aspects of my dormant personality! Umi is deserving of the accolades and has earned the position of 1st place!

Unbelievably great hair color. Each time I go people carefully mix my colors and check while they are setting to make sure all is progressing well. They care for my hair and the texture is fantastic

When I had my long hair cut short with Jeffrey at Umi, he spent 45 minutes learning about me and studying my face shape and features before beginning my cut. My stylist at Umi really takes time with me. She analyzes my hair texture, the way it falls, etc., and after taking all of that into consideration, she creates a style that works best with my hair and face shape. It's the little touches - like the tea tree oil in the spray bottles - that makes Umi unique.

Umi Salon is conveniently located in a serene space overlooking fashionable Newbury Street. The stylists at Umi are expertly trained. Strangers have actually asked me where I get my hair cut. I love everything about Umi...the clean-looking, monochromatic modern space; the interesting and unobstrusive music played on the sound system; and most of all the stylists who are interested in providing clients with expert, unhurried service, with no distractions. I have tried several salons on Newbury Street, and Umi is by far the best...everything about it is professional and service-oriented. Umi strives to be the best salon and it succeeds.
