Wonderful museum. An asset to our community and a great place for families. Great staff.
Appeals to all ages, offers affordable programs, provides hands-on experiences, puts on excellent seasonal events, employs a super friendly staff, and offers a fun way to learn history.
WHAT AN INCREDIBLE MUSEUM AND HISTORIC VILLAGE! Man, I tell ya, the folks who run that place, all the way up to the "little lady collecting change at the door" - the museum director - do a marvelous job. Currently they have some lovely blooming sunflowers that brilliantly complement the layout of the Green, as well as reflecting the splendid weather we've been having. Lastly, their outdoor concerts may not elicit mosh-pit madness, but they do generate their own buzz quite on their own. I heartily recommend! Kudos.
Best Museum in the area. Has something for everyone, and they've sure outdone themselves this summer,
Excellent museum and responsive staff, wonderful summer outdoor concerts, many events year round for whole family, an interesting and comfortable "village scene" behind museum made of a gazebo and buildings from Troy going back over a 100 years with a central village green and picnic tables to use. Very proud.
A great place to visit! There are Interesting, well-restored buildings on a charming village green. The museum has many activities and a knowledgeable, friendly staff. There also are many documents for researching the history of the area.
The Troy Museum's staff has done an outstanding job this year for all the children and adults. Their Story time and picnic lunch on Tuesdays is outstanding, After listening to a delightful story read by one of the curators, and eating our picnic lunch near the ABC Garden, my grandaughters and I then visit the rest of the village. My husband's family all attended the school, so it is very special to all of us.
It's such a great place to learn about how things were in Michigan towns in the mid-19th century--and--the size is great for children. The staff is very knowledgeable and always helpful. The programs and facilities are quite unexpected in such a small space. What an asset for the City of Troy!!
I have worked for a lot of different history museums as historical interpreter and educator, and find that the Troy museum does a very nice job with its programs and education. If I still lived in Troy, I would love to be a part of it.
My mom is on the board. And she made me vote for it. It's pretty cool though. A nice and relaxing way to spend a few hours.
There is no other museum quite like the Troy Musuem and Historic Village. Focusing on local history and how it fits into our cultural identity the Museum also preserves how we live for future generations. The historic village is pure fun to explore over and over again. And the events at the museum are varied and top-notch!
It is nice to see that the City of Troy remembers it's history and preserves a place to showcase it. "Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it." Nice Job Troy!
Great place for school children to find their roots. The community volunteers make the place that much more endearing.
The Troy Museum and Village is a wonderful destination for individuals and families alike. It offers a chance to "live" the past with reenactors and through hands-on activities. There is always something happening from live concerts to presentations, to craft making opportunities and more. Events change with the seasons so one visit is never enough.
The museum and society have made incredible progress under the tenure of the current manager, Loraine Campbell. She is a dynamic, energetic, and resourceful individual. The City of Troy and the neighboring communities have a gem of a museum. Keep up the great work!
Visiting the Troy Museum and Historic Village is like taking a stroll through time. As a native son of Big Beaver, I was surprised, delighted, and charmed to see vintage Troy Township recreated with such authenticity and sensitivity. I have visited many such sites throughout the country and can say that the Troy Museum & Historic Village are transcendent in that they not only open a portal to the past of Troy, they also provide an almost palpable feel of what life was like in small-town America in the 19th and early to mid 20th century. What a treasure and what a tribute to the staff of the Museum and Village and all who supported its creation.
Troy is very lucky and proud to have this history saved. It is free and exciting.
It is one of the BEST Museums and Village that I have ever seen in a small town!
A very special nugget of the past right in the middle of the City of Tomorrow. A very cool place to spend an afternoon listening to music, get married or learn a bit about history.
Seldom can one find so much local history so easily available and accurately presented as at the Troy Museum and Historic Village. It's a great place, not only for exhibits, but for its multitude of excellent programs for adults and children.
2008 is the best year yet for the Troy Museum & Historic Village, offering its visitors a solid slice of local and regional history from the ground up (in ten historic bildings), plus many new programs and events. This is definitely a cultural destination to be visited and revisited.
A very impressive little place, well cared for by the wonderful City of Troy employees.
Great fun for kids, especially the school house and blacksmith shop. Very interactive and the staff gave detailed descriptions of the life people led at the time. Great value.
I love our Troy Museum & Historic Village. This is my all time favorite field trip with my children!
I love the wholesome, family environment! The City of Troy is a very family friendly city. Proud to be a resident! Born and Raised in Troy!! Wooo Go Colts! :)
I've never seen a staff so dedicated to their job. They make kids feel welcome in an environment that usually forbids them to interact. Amazing people, amazing programs.
