My husband and I had our wedding there. Everyone states that something will go wrong on your wedding day. Because of Mary Louise and her close relationship that she had with our caterer, our wedding was perfect. Not one glitch. Months later, all of our friends and family rated our wedding as one of the best they had ever attended. It is the most gorgeous place to have a wedding. They did such an excellent job. My husband and I were able to enjoy our wedding. It was fantastic.

Our daughter chose Birkby House for her wedding last August and it was a lovely venue. The owners have organized the house well with two suites upstairs for the bride and groom to get prepared--the bride's suite is especially nice, with a huge, well-lit, mirrored bathroom-changing area and a lovely room for hanging around while the bride finishes preparations. The upstairs even features a balcony for throwing the bouquet to those in the courtyard. The courtyard itself was a flexible space for arranging the wedding--we had the ceremony outside--with the reception in an adjacent tent. Because the house and outbuildings form the courtyard, the courtyard is more private and quieter than it otherwise might be on a well-traveled street.

The Thomas Birkby House hosted my daughter Kati's wedding a year ago. The setting was perfect. The staff was a joy to work with and directed us to excellent suppliers. The historic buildings made the event extra special. Everything truly came together to make this the most important day in my daughter's life. Even the sun came out after a day of rain - just in time to make the grounds sparkle.

We had a fantastic fall wedding reception at the Birkby House and all of our guests especially loved the venue. Owners Ron and Judy, as well as their event planner Mary Louise, are fantastic and helped make our special day most memorable.

The grounds and house are absolutely BEAUTIFUL - everything is perfectly-maintained, and the staff is amazing. They made wedding planning a breeze (a far cry from what the general consensus believes it should be), and we're still receiving compliments from our guests.

The setting is absolutely beautiful and serene. Add to that a historic atmosphere and you have the perfect setting. And the service is impeccable.

Besides the Thomas Birkby House being so beautiful, the wonderfully landscaped setting is perfect to have everything at one site; ceremony, photos, dinner and reception and no additional rentals for tables, the tent nor chairs. And by having everything at one site, there's no chance of family members getting lost going from one venue to the next. My husband and I were so happy and feel most people are so stressed out on there wedding day. We just didn't have have that.. it was an incredible day.

Service: Ron and Judy are the best and know how to make the right things happen, Atmosphere: Historic setting with comfortable environment, Location: Historic downtown, ample parking and a short walk to other restaurants and shops just means charm, charm, charm !!!

Ron and Judy are a delight to work with. Their place is clean, well kept up and perfect for 100+ people. The tent is always in good repair and looking clean. The carriage house is perfect for the caterers and you always get a warm welcome from them and their staff. There is parking nearby that is easy to get in and out of. There is also a parking garage 1/2 a block down the street. It's easy to combine the old with the new. The house makes you feel like you are back in the 1800's but has all the modern amenities. It is also very picturesque. I'm a wedding planner and they make my life easy when I work there.

They staff has been very helpful and the location is just perfect. The grounds are very well kept and they have they take pride in having something always in bloom fore every season. This is an excellent location for a wedding.

The Bluest Sky God ever made is the canopy under which the softest pinks and greens of summer invite guests to sit and linger...enjoying the festive atmosphere of the relaxing garden and the lovely tent that grows more and more romantic as the evening falls, and the light of day fades breathlessly into the amber glow of candlelight...Music entices the trees to sway with the Bride and Groom as they dance as husband and wife in the fairytale setting that is only found at the Thomas Birkby House. Beauty, Elegance, Simplicity and Superior Service make it the very best of the best! (I have extraordinary photos)

I was married at the Thomas Birkby House in April 2006 and we could not have been happier with the location. The site is beautiful, gardens well-maintained and best of all it was affordable - especially compared to other DC area sites. The owners and staff were a delight to work with - professional and responsive to questions, etc. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an ideal, memorable place to be married.
