Great place to find beers that you'll be hard pressed to find anyplace else. In addition to a fantastic beer selection they have very good food. On my first visit the waiter inexplicably messed up my table's order. (Left onions off my burger, and all of the toppings out of the macaroni and cheese.) However, the waiter more than made up for this faux pas by giving our table complementary drinks. Service like that shouldn't be taken for granted. I'll definitely be back.
The Publick House (hereafter TPH) is probably my favorite bar of all time. The tremendous selection of beers starts with the tap list which they seem to update every 3-4 days. I've definitely gone in Monday had something that drew me to return later that week and it's been gone. It is both a curse and a blessing -- but it certainly gets me to try more beers which is always good. The Monk's Cell has added 4 (or maybe 5) tap lines with unique Belgian beers and more importantly opened up more space.
I don't want to go in a long rant about the food, but it is otherworldly. The old stand-bys are the frites, burger, and of course the mac n' cheese (asparagus, andoullie sausage and caramelized onions please) but they also have tons of unique specials. The chop of the day and the fish of the day are always very intriguing. I had a barracuda and red pepper risotto recently that knocked my socks off. Just a great place.
It seems like in the past 6-8 months the place has taken off even more and you can barely ever go in without having to wait for a table, but relax, enjoy a beer and know that you'll be leaving 100% satisfied.
Best beer bar in New England by far. Mussel bowls are steamed to perfection and served with delicious frites. The monks cell has added more seating. Great food, great beer - zero complaints.
Best Beer Selection in Boston. The food ain't too shabby either. Chile awesome, mussels awesome.
The beers here are in such good shape that it is like drinking them for the first time. Great selection of local, national, and international brews.
Best beer bar in Boston (Oh, wait, someone said that).Has gotten even better with the addition of the Monk's Cell. Other bars have more selections, but this list has more quality.
TPH has the widest selection of "vintage" and cask beers around as well as semi-hard to find items and everyday brews to boot.
