In 1973, at the age of 26, Beau Theriot opened his first restaurant -- The Brownstone Restaurant in Houston, Texas, displaying furniture and antiques from around the world. The Brownstone became one of Houston's most sophisticated restaurants, and patrons were soon asking Beau to decorate their houses. Beau's innate sense of design, along with his knowledge of antiques, led him into a new profession and the opening of the Brownstone Gallery. In 1979 Beau bought a week-end home on Lake Travis and decided that the hill top just across the lake was the perfect place to open a restaurant. The 500-acre site, originally grown up with weeds and sporting an old barn, now houses The OASIS, perched on a cliff overlooking Lake Travis. Today The OASIS has 40 decks plus and can hold in excess of 2000 people.

I highly recommend the Oasis, especially if it's your first trip to Austin. The view of Lake Travis from the restaurant is absolutely worth the half hour drive from downtown Austin. The restaurant has something like 4 levels of deck seating. In my opinion, the food is overpriced, but good. Go early if you want to avoid a long line, and plan on staying for a while!
