The Guitar Gallery was founded by Dan Vogt and Scott Smith in March of 1989. As young musicians, they became frustrated with the lack of affordable gear available at the music stores in Tuscaloosa. There was a market for the quality used gear at a reasonable price so they decided to give the business a go. The Guitar Gallery's first showroom totaled a modest 150 square feet in the front room of a rental house. After four expansions and five years later, every inch of the house was stacked with gear. It became obvious that the Guitar Gallery needed to change locations in order to continue growing. The current Tuscaloosa location in the Meadowbrook Shopping Plaza has been the home office since 1995, with showroom expansions in '97 and 2000. The Birmingham store was opened in 1998. In just a few short years, we have made lots of new friends and sold or traded TONS of guitars. We continue to meet new customers every day. Some of our high profile customers include Better Than Ezra, Will Kimbrough, Bob Dylan, Eric Dover, Marty Stewart, Alex Chilton, Jondie Davis, and Mike Watt. The future holds some exciting developments of growth for the Guitar Gallery. We would like to again thank our many loyal customers as well as our brand new customers for allowing us to make a living doing what we love!
