The Dining Car StarStarStarStarStar

The Dining Car was built by The Swingle Diner Co. Its prominent features include black enamel, stainless steel, glass block and neon accents. As you approach its rolled top stainless steel roof and long sleek black body, you can almost find yourself
All items are made on the premises by our pastry chef who learned his trade in Vienna and has spent over thirty years perfecting his skills. Everything is made with the finest fresh ingredients with no preservatives added.
Although The Dining Car's interior is somewhat upscale compared to its predecessors, you can still get the feel of a bustling atmosphere serving good food at honest prices to working America.
Silver and black are the Dining Car's signature colors. Window treatments display sandblasted Art Deco glass in sunburst design. The art glass mirrors are beveled and hand-set.

this is my business

The Dining Car has always been known for its authentic diner fare. However, it has its own personal touch on American/Continental cuisine. Executive Chef Lawrence Thum, a Dining Car veteran since 1975, constantly adapts the daily blackboard specials for freshness and variety. Chef Thum started out as a dishwasher in high school working his way through all facets of of the diner until reaching the position of head chef. His knowledge of the front and back of the house is invaluable. His assistant Chef Robert High, another valued employee since 1975, is a third generation member of the Dining Car family. Chef Thum is the culinary architect of the Diner's totally scratch kitchen. He even makes his own maple syrup.

This is my favorite diner ever. I moved out of Philadelphia over four years ago and there are a slew of diners near me but I make the trip back to the Dining Car a few times a year because it is THAT GOOD. It is great. for breakfast on the weekends, the line is out the door. Apparently, this place is not a secret. Oh, and my fiance loves their Jewish Apple Cake. That is what I get for his birthday every year.

Famous in serving cold food, can't understand that. Bakery was very good at one time until I found hair in the cake.
