"We are bringing wine down back to earth." They strive to keep you informed in the complex world of wine in simple English. They carry nearly 500 wines to select from and 200 of them are under $15! The wines they choose are narrowed down to satisfy every taste and budget. When you walk out of The Curious Grape, you can be sure that you've gotten a truly good value, no matter how much you've spent. Their tasting bar is open all day and it's free!

Friendly, welcoming atmosphere. No nonsense labeling of wines and easy-to-follow guides on which wine to choose. Also love the chocolate selection and frequent tastings...it make me buy more wine!

They have GREAT wines tastings/classes - Suzanne is a wonderful teacher and the notes, maps, and handouts that go with the tastings are really good teaching tools!

The staff are wonderful! They give very plain-spoken advice, without pretension or sales pitches, and they encourage the notion that trying out wines is fun. They have infectious enthusiasm. They listen to what you want to know. Their selection is relatively small, but always interesting. Their tastings are always interesting, and often feature unexpected choices. Mostly, it is just plain fun to shop there.

The staff is extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. They share their love of wine with everyone who comes into the shop, regardless of their wine sophistication. It is THE place I go to find just the right bottle of wine for that special occasion.

Every time I am in the store the staff has been incredibly knowledgeable. They are extremely polite and friendly, not only with the customers, but with each other. The way the wine is displayed makes it easy to move through the diverse selection they carry

They are helpful and knowledgeable. I have just finished a series on Spanish wines they had at the shop and it was obvious the amount of work and research that went into it. Great shop!

Outstandig sales staff; Ms. McGrath is the most knowledgeable wine merchant I have ever seen and the layout of the store is conducive to smart wine, cheese and beer shopping.

We appreciate their willingness to bring in, on request, wines that are hard to find, the wine tastings that allow those of use with modest budgets to try wines before we splurge, plus the chocolate tastings!

The people who work there are great and appear to have great fun. Suzanne, the owner, is especially knowledgeable and remembers clients' tastes in wine. She has steered me to great wines at great prices. I always stop when in the area.

The owners are extremely knowledgeable without you feeling they are being pretentious; very friendly, down to earth staff and a great selection of wines, and deli items. Also, I very much like the chocolate tastings that they offer - very original.

They don't always have the same ol' wines over and over. They continuously seek out new ones to try, most at very reasonable prices. And the store layout is the best around: roomy and lots of other wine and cheese related products.

Excellent write-ups on each bottle of wine. A good selection of inexpensive wines, from smaller vineyards-which shows they take the time to taste each one, rate them and decide to sell them in their store. Great wine tastings, and pairing with cheese and chocolate!

Aside from the fact that The Curious Grape has a tremendous selection of wines at reasonable prices, a unique selection of cheeses and accessories, a great area for wine tasting, and its location is in Shirlington, The Curious Grape is a family-owned business providing helpful and friendly service and their staff greets you like family. And, they are community oriented.
