The Capitol Steps began as a group of Senate staffers who set out to satirize the very people and places that employed them. In the years that followed, many of the Steps ignored the conventional wisdom ("Don't quit your day job!"), and although not all of the current members of the Steps are former Capitol Hill staffers, taken together the performers have worked in a total of eighteen Congressional offices and represent 62 years of collective House and Senate staff experience.

Capital Steps has hantastic fumor and is full of punny funs. it keeps me in stelarious hitches for the entire broadcast! Sadly I cannot get the free CD for I want be in Washington to see the lesting jive.
Topical, funny. Giving the public what it wants. They know their market and cater to it well.
Simply everything! My husband and I laughed so hard, the tears were running down our faces. Maybe the seats should be waterproofed, because, I am sure that some people wet their pants they were laughing so hard! The wit, the puns, the songs, even the cheezy sets and props are funny! I can't wait to see them again. We purchased some cd's and played them all the way home. The very best!
Their intelligence, cleverness, breadth of knowledge, dry wit, and great voices!
I vote for The Capitol Steps! They are better known and have a greater following than most of our political leaders. We can count on the Capitol Steps to put the state of our nation and the world in language we can not just understand but sing along to!
Timely material, clean (only slightly suggestive when current events are suggestive-like Bill & Monica), my 10 & 13 year old kids enjoyed it, great talent & writing. We have 10 CD's & saw the show two times.
Sidesplitting, LOL comedy. If anyone told me I would like song parody comedy - well you know what I'd say but the Steps - my God - brilliant! From Harvard's Sanders Theatre to FL, Pittsburg tp NYC anyone I have told or taken to see them absolutely love them.
They tell jokes about current events in a clever, creative way. They insult both sides of the political spectrum equally, but they modify the balance a bit to match the audience's tastes.
Sheer entertainment! I have been enjoying their talent and humor since 1991 when I first learned of them out here in the Pacific Northwest. Hopefully, The Capitol Steps is an act that will continue on indefinitely!
How they satire political news, issues & politicians in such an intelligent and tasteful way is extremely funny. Their "Lirty Dies" act is the BEST!!!
They allow us to laugh at the foibles of those who govern us. (If we didn't laugh, we frequently CRY!)
Fine political wit is a phenomenal amount fun. The Capitol Steps get you laughing every time, hitting topics from poor presidential decision making to the mideast to basketball scandals.
The Capital Steps are the funniest group out there. Believe it or not, my son saw them when he was in high school on a trip to Washington DC. He turned me on to them.
Laughter is the best prevention for bashing your head into a brick wall while thinking about the political state of the nation....
Humor couldn't possibly be more timely at each performance. Such a talented group!
Creativity, originality, wit: year after year. Equal opportunity debunkers; nobody escapes. They keep us grounded in reality.
The Capitol Steps are a group of people who know the political climate extremely well and are able to poke fun at every aspect of that climate. In fact with Bush as president, they have had by far more comedic relief on the escapades of our leader and the various politicians and their escapades. They make you laugh out loud at the confusion that our political parties cause daily. They provide a great way of releasing anxiety and fear of the unknown.
They have such sharp humor and catchy tunes. The impersonations of Dubya are legendary!
-very relevant to current news and politics -easy to understand and laugh at- in person or on the radio!
The satire expressed in the songs of the Capitol Steps is extremely clever - they are experts at word play and crafting the satirical thoughts into songs. I can listen to the same songs over and over and catch subtleties that were always there but took several listens to uncover. They offer levity at a time of very disheartening and retroactive national leadership.
Current, balanced, clever and well executed. Strong singers with clever material and impeccable comic timing. The venue downtown is easily metro accessible and comfortable seating to enjoy the show.
Nobody can really joke about the ins & outs of the political scene in DC but those who are in & out of the political scene. Great job, guys!
The comedy, of course. No, the singing voices. No, their silly wigs and glasses. No...it's ALL GOOD!
Spot-on, irreverent, topical humor offensive to no one and everyone all at the same time. Good, clean family fun! Rated "G" for greatest! (Not a Capitol Steps cast member or flunkie, just a fan)
If Mark Twain and Will Rogers were still alive they would agree that the "Capital Steps" are the best at political satire!
timeliness. creativity. physical traits. uniqueness. telling it like it is/was in general.
They are so funny, clever, and witty. It's so much fun to watch them perform. I laughed for 90 minutes straight. It even hurt to laugh by then. It's better to laugh than to cry...
Where else will you be able to see "the president" admit he can't find North Korea, or any of the other headline makers be skewered so totally, thoroughly, and at the same time, leave you laughing?
Cap Steps is the quintessential DC experience - intelligent, current, musical, hilarious and they poke fun at EVERYONE!
Capitol Steps is the pressure release valve on a world ready to explode. Better spread the laughter.....hold the shrapnel.
They are brilliant at putting their satire to music we all know. Their stuff is timely and right on the mark. They are great on CD and in person
they are just funny and entertaining...in the world of politics, we need break(fun)..and they are there to entertain us. good job and good luck
