The biggest tourist traps in Boston
Created by: Chrispy
These are the spots that tourists get duped into thinking are "true" Boston. Beware! These spots aren't necessarily "awful" I just find them overrated.

Faneuil Hall Market Place
Do any Bostonian's actually come here to shop? I certainly wouldn't. The sheer number of chain restaurants (Houston's, Hard Rock Cafe, Bertucci's) that set up shop right here should tell you what you're getting into.
At night it gets a little more "Boston-ish" -- but I don't mean that in a good way. Faneuil Hall bars are full of overly tanned guys that want to get in fights.
It's not ALL bad though -- the food court does offer a good opportunity to feed yourself for free (samples!) and the street performers are the one unique thing about Faneuil Hall that I do appreciate. -
Cheers
Not much really needs to be said about Cheers. The Hampshire House location is at least historically interesting. The Fan Hall location bleeds tourist trap.

Mike's Pastry
Lines, lines, lines. The pastries aren't bad, they just aren't that great. Go across the street to Modern Pasty to see what a true Italian bakery is like.

Top of the Hub
Don't get me wrong, I like the view from Top of the Hub -- but is the cuisine anything that you couldn't get at Chili's? Also -- depending on where your seat is you may or may not get a view. Big risk.
Another obnoxious thing is that at the same time people will treat it as a family restaurant (kids running around) while others treat it as a romantic spot where they want quiet and ambiance -- it's hard (impossible) to have it both ways. -
Old North Church
It's not that cool.
