The best independent cinemas in Greater Boston
Stadium Cinemas may be taking over, but there is still a niche for those small time movie houses and there are still a bunch thriving in the Boston area.

"The Coolidge" as it refers to itself is one of the premiere cinemas in the Boston area. This cinema in Davis Square also has a lot of history. They have a combination of indie films and the big blockbusters. The main screen is very nice, but the smaller rooms also are great.

Coolidge is a great place to watch a movie, but the movies they bring in just don't do it for me. Somerville is super cheap, brings in great films and the main theater is one of the best places to watch a movie. Period.
