Nowhere can the true drama of the Civil War, Battle of Atlanta be more appreciated than at the Atlanta Cyclorama and Civil War Museum. This museum features the world’s largest oil painting, the “Battle of Atlanta.” Guided tours occur every hour on the half hour Tuesday through Sunday. A Cyclorama tour begins in the first floor auditorium with a short film that describes events leading up to the Battle of Atlanta. Visitors are then escorted into the Cyclorama to experience the battle in the Cyclorama. As the theater rotates through history, guests are treated to surround sound with music, sound effects and narration in 5 languages. Admission is $7.00 for Adults, $6.00 for seniors, and $5.00 for kids between six and twelve. Doors open at 9am with shows on the half hour from 9:30am to 4:30pm. I have been going to the Cyclorama since I was a kid decades ago. The first experience was unforgettable and it doesn't diminish with time. You can't see the worlds largest painting anywhere but here. It gives you a fantastic idea of what the Battle of Atlanta might have looked like and how rich Atlanta is in history.
