Pros and cons of some of Boston's many sushi joints.
-
Shino Express Sushi
Pros:
*Everything is made with brown rice - delicious and nutritious
*Super cheap - most Nigiri is only $1
*Location is tucked away on Newbury Street
Cons:
*The space is TINY - maybe 20 seats total - so the wait can be a pain
*They are not too efficient in seating people (once you are seated service is ok)
When to go:
Thursday nights! For some reason, the sushi is always AWESOME this night (they probably get a new shipment) -
Fin's Sushi & Grill
Pros:
*Great, fresh sushi
*Creative rolls
*Reasonably priced
*Great lunch specials
Cons:
*Crowded during peak hours
*Huge groups of BC students sake bombing (sometimes)
When to go:
Get take-out! They do a great job packing it up, and it's really quick. -
Haru
Pros:
*HUGE space - lots of available seating
*GREAT, FRESH sushi - all the time!
*Interesting decor
Cons:
*Tables really close together...it's a mystery why
*Expensive, but you get what you pay for
When to go:
Avoid the after-work crowd!
-
GARI - Japanese Fusion Restaurant
Pros:
*Owners are REALLY sweet, and always there
*Great selection of unique rolls - things I had never even heard of!
Cons:
*Small space, but that's part of its charm
*Little bit pricey
When to go:
Early dinner - I've never seen it crowded then, but people start filtering in later. The space fills up fast! -
Sushi Express
Pros:
*Super cheap - most Nigiri is only $1.10
*Convenient location by St. Mary's Street on the C Line, also close to the Fenway stop on the D line
*Really friendly staff!
*Great party platters
*Quick service
Cons:
*Small space, but they make it work
*Sushi is not top notch, but it will satisfy the craving
When to go:
Early dinner, or late nights to avoid the rush. Weekday lunch specials are great. -
