A tradition has taken hold on South Street with the addition of Steaks On South. “Awesome” is the word on the street about Steaks On South, which was declared “best cheesesteak in Philadelphia” by NBC10 and City Paper – a real triumph for this family run business. Hot sandwiches run the gamut from traditional cheesesteaks and chicken cheesesteaks, to grilled veggie offerings.

SOS knows how to make a cheesesteak, the meat is tender not chewy, the onions are grilled prefectly and the rolls are always fresh. this review is making me hungry

Same great taste as Lee's, same prices as others on South st., comfortable seeting establishment and you don't smell like onions when you leave!

Jim Pollum (manager and cook) makes the best cheese steak I know of. I always ask that my steaks be to the point in how I want it. Some shops don't put up with that, but there's never a problem

SOS is the Best Because Patrick Dougherty is my uncle and he knows how to do business. They truly are the best cheesesteaks around.

Everyone at SOS is extremely friendly. Their meat is always fresh and sliced perfect. The rolls are great as well. I have personally eaten there many times and have not had a bad meal

A cheese steak that is made to perfection. The scent of frying onions overwhelms your senses when entering. My steak was big with lean beef piled high on long crusty roll. If you’re a true Philadelphian or a tourist seeing the sights, in your travels you must stop at Steaks On South. You can watch South Street strolling parade either on the first or second floor.

BEST cheesesteaks are truly grilled at Steaks On South... and I order cheesesteaks a lot . I'm always looking for a better cheesesteak - I have not found one better. Your meat is the best - no gristle and no fat... I love lean meat! Maybe you should call your steaks, "Voted Best in Philadelphia - SOS's Gourmet Cheesesteaks," because it's the truth!
