Take a trip back in time to the Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History in Kennesaw, Georgia! With three impressive permanent collections and a membership in the prestigious Smithsonian Affiliations Program, the Museum offers a wide range of exhibits, including a glimpse into the daily lives of soldiers during the Civil War; a reproduction of a turn-of-the-century locomotive factory; and an exciting depiction of the Civil War's Great Locomotive Chase. They present a well rounded history of not only the civil war but the industrial revolution. They have a fantastic program for visiting school children as well as seniors. They are Smithsonian affiliated which brings great traveling exhibits as well as lectures. They are definitely a diamond in the rough.

44,000 sq. ft museum contains tons of interesting Civil War artifacts, a locomotive factory reproduction and, of course, the General from the Great Locomotive Chase. Interesting and informative movie about the chase is also shown.

Impressive is the only word I can think of for this museum. A great legacy to the steam rail era and the role the Cobb community played in it.

The Southern Museum is one of the best places in Atlanta to go for a group tour! I make trip planning EASY. We provide tours 7 days a week, mornings and afternoons, and have costumed living history interpreters to provide an unforgettable visit. This is all included for only $4 -$6 per person. We are passionate about history, we are passionate about education, and we WANT you here. Call Me for a good time! 770-427-4117 x3174 or groups@southernmuseum.org
