We are a full-service bookshop and coffeehouse located just two doors to the right of the Kernersville Post Office at 335 West Mountain Street in Kernersville, NC. In addition to our large and varied book and news selections, our shop features coffees and teas from Lexington Coffee, a small roasting company located in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. African, Latin American, and Pacific Island are just some of the varieties of coffees one may find brewing in our shop! Our shop honors Sylvia Beach who owned perhaps the most famous bookshop in literary history. Browse our gallery photos and take a trip back into literary time. Stop by and relax with a cup of our brew or one of our delightful fruit smoothies and enjoy the atmosphere of our cozy bookshop. Owners Gail and Wade Behrns are new to the North Carolina area, having lived on the west coast for over twenty years. Wade managed and opened a number of upscale restaurants in the San Diego area. He is also a skilled woodworker, building nearly all of the bookshelves and counter space in Shakespeare and Company. Gail has over ten years of teaching experience and recently completed an M.A. in American Literature. They have teamed-up to open what they feel is a shop which carries on the memory of Sylvia Beach as well as her love and passion for literature.
