Hello! My name is Amy Gilbert. I am the owner/president of Red Interiors-Sew 4 U. I am someone that has loved to sew since I was in the second grade. This love has grown into a business of women who love to design, create and sew. My desire to design and create was encouraged by my involvement with the drama department at my High School. I then began sewing for my friends who just couldn't find exactly what they wanted. This led to my degree in Clothing And Textiles from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1984. After graduating, I worked several years in design and construction at a costume company in New York. In 1987, I began a home based sewing and design business. I enjoyed projects ranging from bridesmaids dresses to a riddler costume; from dance costumes to a trick magician's tailcoat. While living in Charleston, South Carolina I began working with designers creating custom window treatments. I kept my business at home until 2003 when I purchased my present shop. I have two full time employees, Sherry and Dawn, and tow part-time employees, Linda and Christine. Sherry is our bridal gown and formal wear specialist. Dawn is our Interior Designer. Linda works on the fabrication of our window treatments and bedding and Christine is our alterations seamstress. As the business owner I wear many hats. I am still a woman who loves to sew and I enjoy seeing our customers excited about their ideas becoming a reality.
