The Schneider Gallery proudly presents the opening of Get by Heart: A Performance in Vision, an installation by artist Jeremy Hobbs. In this installation, Hobbs presents a sequential series of sixteen pieces that document the artists' visual field on the day of May 21st, 2006, in a total of one hundred and sixty thousand images. Get by Heart: A Performance in Vision is an epic visualization of a single day, using processed video to fabricate intricate images that correspond to each waking hour of the artists/subjects visual experience. The work for the installation was created through a performance in which a video camera was affixed to the side of the artists/subjects head, so that the camera shot in tandem with his eyes and recorded everything seen by him throughout the entire day. Through a combination of surveilling the self and home-videotaping, Hobbs uses the installation, to address issues in self portraiture, narrative, and memory, while also questioning the authority of perception and the authority of the record.
