Marathon Sports has four locations: Cambridge, Boston, Wellesley, and Brookline. The store is completely geared around runners. It carries light racing shoes, cross trainers, and hard-to-find stabilizing shoes. The staff is trained to watch customers walk and jog to suggest different model sneakers. Whether you accept their advice or not, the personal attention and outstanding inventory makes this a great place to for serious runners. Store hours vary, but most are open 10:30AM to 6 or 7 PM. The website is really helpful, so check your location's hours if you are trying to head there after work. You may be cutting it close.

GREAT STAFF. I'm always in there...and they tolerate my infuriating running gear questions. SHANE O'HARA and his crew are AWESOME!!! half of the Christmas and birthday gifts i receive are from this store. i couldn't be happier!
As good as everyone says they are. Very patient, they want to get the right fit, not make the better sale. Excellent customer service at all stores. Great discounts too if you're a HPHC member or if you are training for a fundraiser....

Marathon Sports does the best job of fitting running shoes.
Marathon Sports not only carries a strong, complete line of running shoes, they "carry" staff who are incredible (irreplaceable!!) when it comes to fitting people for new running shoes. They've fitted me for 8 marathons and many more triathlons! My legs would be dead without them!
The absolute best place to get the sneaker to fit your needs. The staff is helpful, consistent, courteous, and the fact that you can run up and down the block to "test" the fit and feel of the sneaker makes this place #1. I have never been steered into a bad sneaker. I love the small store feel and neighborly way in which you are treated.
Every time I go into the store I get inspired. When I'm in training, I always go in the night before my long runs so that I can get an inspiration kick. They also have the best gear around.
Of course the selection at Marathon Sports is great. But the staff really makes it the best place for running gear in the city. They are knowledgeable, approachable, patient, and genuinely interested in sharing the best information on running gear and updates. Marathon Sports also caters to all athletic levels and interests, from walkers to competitive runners.
Staff was extremely helpful. Patiently worked with me for 30 minutes to find the right type of running shoes.

The staff is unbelievable. Every time I have been in there I am amazed that they are able to have so many smart normal people working at one place. I always leave with some great products, but you can buy that stuff anywhere, it's the people and their knowledge that keeps me going back.
