Blackbird
We are always lucky to have great sources for wine and our list continuously changes to reflect small wineries someone has found and new vintages that come to market. One recent find is the Loring Pinot Noir 2004. A single vineyard wine from Santa Lucia Highlands, only 700 cases of the wine are produced. The winemaker, Brian Loring first fell in love with Pinot Noir in Burgundy. He worked in a wine shop after college and then as a software designer, but wine was his passion. After watching firsthand the 1997 harvest of Cottonwood Canyon, he decided to make a couple of barrels of Pinot Noir himself. The Loring Wine Company’s first commercial vintage came only 2 years later; 150 cases of 1999 Pinot Noir made from Norm Beko's "Sharon's Vineyard." This self-taught winemaker believes the best wines come from the best grapes and spends a good deal of his time sourcing the best fruit he can…sort of the way we work here at Blackbird!
