this is my business

Since moving to Southern California from South Texas 13 years ago, Proprietor Richard Perez has been serving up Texas barbecue to salivating friends and family at all social gatherings and family events. His wife Janet, a native California girl, always created the authentic Tex-Mex barbeque sides passed down to her through four generations of Richard’s family. After much encouragement and prodding, Richard and Janet are bringing the goods to the public by popular demand. Richard is already making a name for himself, nicknamed “The Smoke Master” by regular customers. He insists that “slow-smoking is the key,” but after tasting the meat, customers swear there has to be more to it. As one customer exclaimed, “Forget about the best barbeque... forget about the best brisket... This is the best cow I’ve ever had!” “This is really us bringing what we have always enjoyed to the public,” says Perez. “The food takes me back to growing up in Texas and having giant events with all our friends and family. It was my goal to bring that flavor and atmosphere to my new home.” Smoked brisket, tender chicken, pork ribs, pulled pork and mouth-watering sausage are now an everyday indulgence in Oceanside, California. Lone Star BBQ, a down-home Texas-style barbeque joint opened on Highway 101, bringing a little bit of the south to the west. Open Tuesday–Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., the restaurant offers a personalized dining experience, letting customers choose from a range of side dishes, platters, and meats. A true mom-and-pop operation, Lone Star BBQ has been quietly operating since October, 2006. Owners Richard and Janet Perez decided to skip a grand opening in order to give themselves a little time to get the kinks out. However, buzz surrounded the restaurant from the moment it opened. Word is spreading and a bustling business has developed. Whether sitting in the cozy dining area, the sunny outdoor space, or just stopping by for take-out, customers crave the authentic, delicious South Texas barbeque experience. The restaurant is also busy catering events. The Perez Family has been slow smoking brisket and serving up delicious sides for four generations in South Texas and now they are bringing this pure south texas culinary experience to Southern California. Come on by and taste for yourself!

This place is sooooo good. I passed though on my to LA from SD. I just happened to see an ad and stopped in. Man, it was some good, good meat. I can't say enough about the spicy sausage. I love spicy food and the plain sausage was great, but the spicy was over the top killer. I added spicy BBQ sauce and I was in sausage heaven.
