The Route 66 Malt Shop is located on Historic Route 66 in Albuquerque New Mexico. It is located at 1720 Central Ave. SW between Old Town and Downtown. The Malt Shop is located in the former Horn Oil and Motor Lodge which was built in 1946. Owners Eric Szeman and Diane Avila are dedicated to preserving the culture of Route 66. The Malt Shop represents the look and feel of a vintage roadside grill and soda fountain with a menu of authentic dishes. The Route 66 Malt Shop is renown for its homemade Root beer which has earned honors as one of the top ten root beers in the United States. In addition, the Malt Shop serves up their signature blue cheese green chilly cheeseburger and two-lane Hebrew National hot dogs. Of course, malts, sundaes and floats are proudly made the old fashioned way with hand-scooped ice creams.
