OU's devotion to art is evident in not only the art it exhibits, but in the space itself, which is a testament to simplistic beauty and warmth.
The Oglethorpe museum is very warm and inviting. Good exhibits which relate to the culture of the school.
This tiny little museum has a wonderful feel and ambience to it. When visiting, you wander upon a beautiful college campus and the exhibits are alway interesting and representative of every culture and interest imaginable.
Intimate, yet open space creating a very serene vibe. Great choice and display of art.
Have you ever been to the Oglethorpe Museum? A few years ago, Tibetan Monks were on campus at the museum to create sand art, for which they are world famous.
The museum is an Atlanta secret that should NOT be missed!
No other museum in Atlanta offers the unique and unparalleled shows that OUMA does! Their openings are AWESOME, and their gift shop ROCKS :).
The quality of art presented and the staffs warm welcome to each visitor make one feel at home. The size of each room is conducive to intimate viewing, and the receptions for the opening of exhibits are elegant.
Well organized, beautifully displayed and unusualexhibits. And a wonderful setting.
They have incredible exhibits for a museum their size and the way they display each exhibit is exceptional. They always have related events that support developing knowledge of the artist or exhibit.
Museum with high quality exhibitions, friendly atmosphere and stuff that is working very hard to make this museum the best one in Atlanta area.
The OUMA is the most intimate of spaces to view art and its exhibitions are not the canned shows one finds throughout other venues in ATL. In addition, they serve the community with an excellent lecture series and other events that bring the best of culture--and other cultures--to ATL. The OUMA is unfortunately ATL's best kept secret.
The Oglethorpe University Museum of Art has very high quality exhibits and programs that I feel represent outstanding examples of both traditional and contemporary art. I particularly like the layout of the display areas.
The displays are unique and beautifully displayed. The gift store is a hidden treasure for unique gifts. The staff is very friendly and the ambiance is peaceful.
A learning experience everytime at this neighborhood museum with art from around the world.
As author of "Nicholas & Helena Roerich, The Spiritual Journey of Two Great Artists and Peacemakers" I visited the Oglethorpe as a guest lecturer. The professionalism and care with which the Roerich exhibition was hung took my breath away. Not the smallest detail was missed in making this show a deeply meaningful experience for all viewers. The Oglethorpe is an outstanding Museum and a treasure.
I love the spiritual exhibits Oglethorpe Museum hosts from Asian. They are such an inspiration to me. They always have very insightful information.
Wonderful cultural asset to the community.
We need to be more active in supporting the museum.
Excellent exhibits - interesting and always well displayed. They also have incredible informational lectures
It's a small intimate museum that is never crowded, and with good parking. The exhibits are always first rate and unique.
The Oglethorpe museum is impeccably run and always has world class exhibits in a beautiful setting. While many would drive past every day and not think twice about it, they are missing a true modern day Atlanta treasure.
The intimate setting and extraordinary art exhibitions make OUMA the best experience for appreciating art.
The museum consistently has high quality exhibitions that present art that is not available at other museums. (The 2007 exhibits: Rembrandt etchings, photos of Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo, and Rodin sculpture.) There is no parking problem, the museum itself is small, uncrowded and beautiful, the prices are reasonable, and the staff (frequently the director himself) is welcoming.
