The fact that Jims/Pats/Genos is ranked above Dalessandro's basically nullifies any validity that might have been perceived in this survey. Jim's is bad. Geno's is worse. Pat's is the worst. Probbaly 20-30th best steaks in Philly. Dallessandros/Tony Lukes/Steve's are solid top 5 picks, I chose Dalessandro's b/c I've been there most recently. And it was the bomb. the cheesteaks I make at home are better than Jims/Pats/Genos.

Everytime I am in Roxborough I stop at Dalessandro's and am never disapointed. Great rolls, steak, onions and cheese perfectly cooked - a true delight.

I travel for this steak. Whenever I mention taking a drive to Roxborough for one, I always have to take orders. Be ready to wait but it is worth it in the end.

Dalessandro's steaks are the best around. The whole family loves their steak sandwiches. Even thoe the isle is small, I conciter take-out (not mouch room). Every time we go there, it's packed. I'd say, that's philly's way of saying that Dalessandro's is the best around.

The combinations on the cheesesteaks and the chicken cheesesteaks are wonderful. We love his sandwiches including the cheesesteaks. They are tasty and full of meat. Bread is great and the ingredients are so fresh. Love this place.

No one else even comes close. No gimics, no hype, Dalessandro's has the freashest, tastiest, best cheese steaks, hands down in Philly. Add in the amazing hot peppers served counterside and the vintage setting plus exemplary service...Man, I just wish every cheese steak I ever had was this good! Shapsjo

D'Alessandro's steak shop was always the best in Philly. I lived in the area in the in the 70's thru to the 90's then moved to Florida where I currently reside. I would visit the shop every Tuesday and now I drive to Philly once a month JUST to get a cheesesteak from there. I'm sorry to have heard of the very recent passing of Tom, co-owner. He will be greatly missed.

Dalessandro's has been a tradition in my family since I was a little kid. My parents went there when they where little, and they passed the directions on how to get there to me and my brother. We moved over to Jersey and still we go there at least twice a month, and get 2 each, one to eat in the car and one for lunch tomorrow. Even reheated they are delicious!!!! When ever there is a debt on cheese steaks, (which if you're from Philly, a very common conversation) Dalessandro's is always my answer; no if's, and's, or but's about it!

The bread is the best....that's what makes the cheese steak worth coming back for.....I have been going there for 35 years. I have tried all of the others, and nothing compares to Dalessandro's.

Fortunately Dalessandro's is a local establishment for me. Whenever someone from out of the neighborhood comes to visit, they always want a steak from "around the corner" - even my South Philly relatives.
