Detroit's historic Scarab Club has been dedicated to serving the public and Michigan artists of all disciplines for 100 years. The club accomplishes this mission through classes, lectures, exhibitions, special events, and tours. The Scarab Club strives to promote local artists, emerging and experienced. It also hosts a variety of educational and instructional events. Works by Michigan artists are always on display in the galleries. Each year the club sponsors a photography exhibition, as well as the prestigious Gold Medal and Silver Medal exhibitions of painting and sculpture. The main gallery also hosts major state-wide juried exhibitions as well as local, individual and group shows. Member exhibitions are shown in the second floor lounge gallery.Over the years the club has sponsored popular music series' in Blues, Jazz and Chamber Music. Chamber Music at The Scarab Club began its eighth season in the Fall of 2005. The Detroit Blues Project's Blues Heritage Series was another long-running favorite, hosted by the Scarab Club for eight seasons.

It's the Granddaddy of all art galleries in Metro Detroit! It's roster of artists over the years alone puts it over the top!
The Scarab Club nurtures the Detroit art scene and it's a great corner stone that tells us where we've been and where we're going.
History of local and visiting artist mixes with current artists. A connection to painted canvas, sculpture, and photography is easily felt when friends get together in an atmosphere of past and present. That feeling is alive at the Scarab Club.
The Scarab club links the traditions of 20th century art making with the 21st century.
Great building, rich history, friendly people, wonderful art...need I say more?!
A very established art studio and icon of Detroit. Extreme artists, fabulous history.
Wonderful art in a friendly atmosphere. I was enthusiastically greeted by Christine, Treena and Leslie! Loved the historic beams in the lounge too!
This is a wonderful gem hidden in Detroit. I was fortunate enough to visit last month and it was wonderful.
The Scarab Club graciously let the cast and crew of InZer0: Fragile Wings (a sci fi film being filmed in Detroit) film in their building. For supporting local film, they are the best gallery in Detroit.
Rich in Detroit History...wonderful members...beautiful building...Jason and Kelly ultimate punk rock wedding...and the hard work that Kelly Lockwood has done to bring in a younger generation....
My parents went to the Scarab Balls in the late twenties and early thirtys. Visit and absorb the History! Still here! A great place!
The urban setting of the club appeals to me probably the most. Located in one of the older areas of the city, I get inspiration when I visit even though I'm have zero artistic talent.
There's a buzz around town that the old Costume Ball is revived! Can't wait to party! Glad this historic institution is celebrating its centennial by reviving an old tradition on September 29th!
Terrific art and a varied collection and just terrific people who run the scarbb club!!
A great place that facilitates all areas of artistic expression; especially the visual arts. The staff here is always friendly and has an immeasurable amount of experience and knowledge. Treena Ericksson, the Gallery Director, creates one of the most comfortable and enlightening gallery experiences in the city, even if you come with an untrained eye! The building is a piece of art itself -- check out the ceiling beams on the second floor for a who's who of the arts community -- local and international -- there's a lot of history in this place. Now, go VISIT!
It's a privilege to vote for what I consider a great artistic valued establishment
Love the Scarab gallery. Bought the book The Scarab Club Images of American by Arcadia - packed full of information about Detroit's art history and prominent Scarab artists and patrons through the organization's 100 year history. Happy 100th birthday! I enjoy the outstanding art exhibitions, both the juried and invitational. I especially enjoy the wide variety and depth of art displayed by local artists.
Vestigial spirit of an era representing growth, experimentation and grandiosity (forgive me if that's not a word). It represents what Detroit was, should be, and what could be again.
The Scarab Club is an arts and crafts masterpiece that has provide a welcoming meeting place and exhibition space for local Detroit artists over many decades.
Scarab Club of Detroit is more than just an art gallery. It's an art experience.
I've had great times and good fun with friends while visiting the gallery and, of course, admiring the artwork.
Old architecture is what is apealing about a city, it is what makes it distinct.

I love the work and the people at the Scarab Club...they are the best in the city
