The New American Shakespeare Tavern® is unlike other theaters. It is a place of live music and outrageous sword fights with the entire experience centered on the passion and poetry of the spoken word.

Shakespeare performed at the New American Shakespeare Tavern in the original style, with handmade period costumes, thrilling sword fights, and live music is the best drama around. The intimate dinner theater with a new production each month is definitely worth a visit. It will become a habit!

Excellent fun and great food! Every performance is different from the last. I love to take friends & family to the Tavern if they're visiting from out of town to give them a taste of Atlanta.

Shakespeare's story line is as poignant today as it was when it was written years ago. The creativity of the theatre and cast is marvelous. The action is as close as your fork. Eat AND enjoy the best theatre right at your own table. Sit close to the stage any place, really, any place, in the whole theatre. TOP quality actors who have as much fun the stage as we do in the audience.

These are ''purists"- they are very serious about performing Shakespeare's plays the way that Shakespeare originally intended.
Acting is 1,000% professional. A true joy to witness perfection in this imperfect world!

We went for the first time in July and saw "The Complete Works of Wm. Shakespeare - Abridged" It was hilarious! Our daughter participated in Shakespeare Intensive for Teens at the Tavern and really loved the people involved. It is a great place to go!

No one in Atlanta brings theatre to the audience the way the Tavern can!! Their actors are the best; I go back month after month just to see what they're up to!

The Shakespeare Tavern performs plays as Shakespeare wrote them. The actors are superb, the direction is excellent, and the tavern itself transports the audience back to Elizabethan England. Jeff Watkins is one of Atlanta jewels in the arts community.
