the most realistic step-by-step clinic of self-defense in the state. Not a better, more down to earth teacher around than sensei Nick Theodorou. His class makes you sweat, pushes you, and gives you more confidence in everything that you do. I would recommend this class to any man or woman considering self defense.

No theory or katas - it's true self defense for the 21st century. But Sensei Nick teaches more than just self defense - he is one of the greatest teachers I've ever had and has had a tremendous impact on my life - more than he probably knows or will ever know.

Sensei Nick is a rare example of an instructor with excellent martial arts technique and teaching ability. His black belt instructors are all first class. Schools like this are tough to find!

The quality of instruction and camaraderie at the dojo is unparalleled. Time and time again sensei Nick has proven to be very thorough, diligent and energetic in his teaching. Similarly beneficial is the degree of assistance the sensei Nick's instructors provide, all of whom, are extremely talented, dedicated and personable in their teaching.
The style taught is very much oriented towards self-defense on the street and real-time scenarios, and if you visit you'll notice that many other martial art styles are incorporated to provide students with the most comprehensive training possible.
One of the most interesting and useful things about the Theodorou Academy is the variety in the training given - the head sensei is adamant on teaching and applying new techniques, which come up during the "topic of the night" segment of class. This definitely keeps the training dynamic and remains a motivational aspect of my own training.

My physical and mental transformation since joining Theodorou Academy is amazing. I am more confident in my skills not only in the martial arts, but in all of life generally speaking. The friends that I have made at the Academy are lifelong. The instructors there are caring and patient with wonderful senses of humor. It has become an extended family for me. Sensie Nick Theodorou's passion for keeping people safe and happy is incredibly apparent. I've never felt lost in the crowd, embarrassed, or unencouraged. This place is a gift.

Its hands on with real worlds situations. The instructor has high energy, gets involved with students during the class, and everyone gets treated with respect. If you want to learn self defense or just want a stress relief activity give this a try. You will leave the class walking in a cloud!

Sensi Nick is personable and has many many years of training. The advanced students are always willing to take the time to help the newer students. While the students are studying the art of American Jiu Jitsu, they are learning practical self-defense techniques, improving self confidence and getting a great work out!! This is truly the best dojo in Boston!!!

I love the instruction from the Senseis down to the beginners. Always interesting and there are new topics introduced daily, as well as current events, news, and how to defend against what is happening in the streets today.

Mr Theodorou is a great teacher, he performs his technique perfectly. He is always helpful to his students and explains everything at everybody's level. No one is left behind. We all respect him and love him.

I have to say that Theodorou Academy of Jiu Jitsu deserves to receive the award, because it is not just a business, but a vehicle to dramatically transform lives. I know it has changed mine. Women are brought up to feel weaker, to feel helpless, to look over their shoulders in case they're being followed, and to avoid going out late at night. In the Theodorou Academy, technique and knowledge of human anatomy are critical, rather than brawn, which means that anyone can undertake training. Moreover, the Academy emphasizes practical fighting techniques that can be used in "real-life" situations. Thus, the Theodorou Academy teaches more than just a martial art, but a means of defending one's life, which makes it more than a business--it is a vehicle for empowerment.

This Jiu Jitsu Academy is not your typical Martial Arts School I am a former member and I can tell you first hand that they have an outstanding Sensei in Nick Theodorou. This man is not only a great teacher but a great person who cares about his students and Jiu Jitsu deeply. He also has an outstanding cast of black belts witch help him teach. This is in A+++ Academy. And anyone who is looking to study the Art of Jiu Jitsu would be a fool if they didn't learn from Nick Throdoro.

I've studied many different styles of martial arts with many different instructors. This school, martial arts style, and style of instruction is the most comprehensive. Theodorou Academy offers the most practical approach to self-defense while maintaining the philosophical and physical fitness aspects of martial arts in general. Not only that, the school has a certain kind of comraderie that is refreshing and not always easy to come by.

I have moved 5 times since graduating from college in 2003. I have explored many dojos and watched many Senseis in hopes of finding a place where the sense of comfort & proper technique compared to the Theodorou Academy under Nick Theodorou. Not only was this the best training I've received, but I've also met some of the best friends in my life at this class. If you are thinking about joining a martial art - take your time to sit-in on different classes - just make sure Theodorou Academy is on your list!

I been a part of two other martial arts school but they do not compare to Theodorou Academy. Sensei Theodorou implement real life situation to his classes and the black belts are extremely helpful when it comes to teaching the lower ranks.

I've visited a number of dojos over the last two weeks. The Theodorou Academy made me feel welcome the minute I walked in. As a matter of fact, about half the students introduced themselves to me not knowing who I was or that I was considering joining their class. The first session made me feel like I had been part of the class for years and the excitement of watching all the other students have fun while they were sweating their tail
