Singer, songwriter and fiddler, Laura Cortese lights up the stage with a radiating smile, dazzling musicianship and uninhibited delight. She deftly strums, plucks and chops her fiddle behind her raw and rootsy voice. Forgoing the guitar and bass of the traditional rock band, Cortese tours nationally with indie rock/folk drummer Neil Cleary (Annie Hayden, The Essex Green, Erin McKeown). On her latest release, even the lost creek (February 2006), she couples the groove and polish of urban music with universal themes of the old world.

Laura is an amazing vocalist and extremely talented - her fiddling is off the hook, she step dances, she's beautiful...what else can say. From the moment I saw her at the Scottish Games in Pleasanton, CA with Alisdair Frasier I was smitten!

Laura's spirit is contagious! You can't help but get caught up in her music, which is beautiful, vivacious and addictive. It has the impressive quality of feeling fresh but familiar. Her talent is undeniable, but it is Laura's passion for her craft that draws you in and leaves you wanting more.

Laura has great energy and enthusiasm as a vocalist, performer, and arranger. While she always appears with great side players, she is also capable of delivering a full SOLO show... with just vocals, fiddle, and bass. Laura rocks!

Not only is Laura a talented vocalist, (musician and dancer) but she is also an entrepreneur -- she is a founder of the "BCMFest" (Boston Celtic Music Festival), an opportunity to showcase local musicians in the middle of New England winter.
