OrigiNation Cultural Arts Center
Founded in 1994, OrigiNation, Incorporated is a non-profit organization that specializes in implementing innovative and dynamic programs, which motivate, challenge, and inspire youth to be the best they can be. We offer quality dance, theater arts, and African history education. Special emphasis is placed on teaching young people between the ages of 5 through 18 the importance of self-respect, health, nutrition, education, self-esteem, and the extent of African influences on various contemporary art forms. We serve close to 200 young people annually providing youth of all levels with training in multiple dance forms, public speaking, and martial arts.

Thank you so much for all the wonderful comments you have given us. OrigiNation is a HUGE part of my life. We take great pride in knowing that parents and guardians send their children to us knowing that they will be treated not just as students, but as family. I personally enjoy watching our young people grow and learn how to express themselves not only with dance but with strong voices and posture. I, for almost 14 years, have watched OCAC students start off as eight year olds and graduate from college. It is very important for us, as a community, to listen to our young people, encourage them, teach them how to help and love themselves, and allow them to learn from their mistakes. I love what is happening at OrigiNation. I love the families that make it happen. Thank you NIA Dance Troupe, Girlz of IMANI, Aleye, IMANI Jr., OrigiNation families, and of course my immediate family for making us as strong as we are. Let's continue to MAKE IT HAPPEN!!

My daughter has danced at OrigiNations since she was 4 years old. She is now 8 years old. The program builds both technical skills and emotional self-confidence and grace. It is a pleasure to watch not only her growth as a dancer and a person, but the growth of all of the children and teenagers blessed to be a part of this nurturing and skilled environment. OrigiNation teaches youth skills that will assist them in the dance of life. I can only "dance" their praises.

One word to describe Origination is "wonderful". They teach the kids very well and motivate them to do well.

I think they are the best because the OrigiNation Cultural Arts Center is a product of a dream realized. This dance center cultivates a sense of pride, self esteem, creative self expression and productivity among many children of African descent as well as other cultures!

Origination has helped a lot of inner city youth succeed and be the best talented young individuals they can be. Origination not only cares about the arts but they care about people and supporting them in any way, shape or form.

We absolutely love Origination. My eldest daughter has danced for eight years. Back when the classes were at the BRCPS. I love it. The company teaches self love, self esteem, courtesy, and being respectful. If you are looking for a dance company that actually cares about the children and the classes are not badly priced then go to Origination.

Very involved in the community; kid focused; when you enter their studios, you feel welcome from the time you enter until the time you leave.

The teachers really take the time to notice each and every student. They are a wonderful ORGANIZED group of staff and motivators. I truly believe the "best" of dance has been brought out my shy daughter's soul - I watch her dance with so much confidence and excitement at home and at the school shows. She has been given so much opportunity since going to Originations - proud to say my child is a student there!!!! PLEASE keep up the GREAT job!!!!

OrigiNation is a wonderful place to dance and express yourselves. I've been with Origination for 3 yrs and I absolutely LOVE it!! The instructors are very friendly. What I learned from Origination is to be the best citizen of my community, how to love myself inside and out. If anyone deserves this award it would be OrigiNation deserves this award.

Origination is more than just a dance studio to me, they are all my family. they have mot only enhanced my dance skills to more than I ever thought possible, but they make everyone feel welcome. I have grown to love everyone I came into contact with at OCAC. I love my home away from home, and cannot think of anyone else who deserves this more. I feel safe. that is not something many can say in Dorcheseter. Take it home OCAC! Love Ya all

I think OrigiNation is an excellent dance school and I recommended it to everyone. My daughter loves her ballet and hip hop classes. They put on an awesome show last December called 'Our Story'. They really look for ways to showing a different world to the youths of our community. Keep up the good work!

OCAC has been a wonderful place for my daughter Tanasia to continue to grow as a dancer. This is her last year here and she/I will miss this place dearly. OCAC brings the best out in our youth. Thank you for all that you have done.

This Dance Company has many thing to offer the children of Rox,Dor,Matt, and the surrounding areas......And if you have not yet been to one of their shows it is a must see event .....When the show ends you are looking forward for the next performance.....

This organization provides unparalled youth development through the arts. Young people acquire discipline, pursue and achieve excellence, develop self-esteem, and a sense of self worth. They acquire an understanding of the direct relationship between hard work and achievement. I have witnessed the enormeous impact on young people resulting from their participation in the creative movement and expressions programs that OrigiNation provides. I am glad of that!

Very professional,. family oriented organization. Children are well cared for and everyone is treated with respect. My child is always over joyed when she leaves her dance class at Originations! Hasn't been a local dance studio this good since Andrea's in Roxbury!!!!

I think this is the best studio because they listen to both children and adults concerns. This is a family owned business and they go above and beyond to make sure the children have a good learning experience and they also are willing to listen and change things that aren't working. This studio is like an extended part of our family

OCAC is the best to me because they teach more than dance. Self respect, self esteem and leadership qualities that our young people need are also what they strive to achieve. They are also very family oriented and I think that a lot of us, parents love that. We LOVE THEM.

I have to say as an original Origination parent that the dancing is secondary to the positive image they instill in their students. Space to grow, space to vent and space to create a positive child in this city is difficult to obtain. Kudos to the Dibinga family for carving out a positive niche for my child in such a "tight space"!

You're greeted with the warmest of smiles, etc. each day and they make dance fun and heartfelt. It's impossible to walk away from class without sweating and wanting more!

Anyone who can get me on stage to dance at my age and not make me look ridiculous, gets my vote. The instructors of Origination are the most energetic, graceful, and giving people I have ever met. They share their gifts with the children and adults of the community with no apprehension or pretense. I love how they teach the children to learn and respect their heritage and culture.

Origination is not only full of talent and commitment to the arts, it also has a commitment to the community. There has not been a positive place like this where young people can grow and lean on one another and have fun in a productive way. I feel that they have answered the call of the community and they have done an awesome job. I have seen both of their annual shows and I have been blown away. It not only teaches about dance, but about family and values and I love that.

OrigiNation is the first dance studio that I've been to that has actually helped me to not only learn the fundamentals of different styles of dance, but to also feel comfortable enough during classes to have fun and to ask for help. I've also had countless hours of fun during my sheduled classes as well as during the vacation programs and the performances that we've put on.

Originations is all about community and family and they lead by example. My prayer for Originations is that the financial backing comes forth from this community, the City of Boston and the State in support of their never ending commitment to this community allowing them to serve a greater population of youth. It takes a village to raise our children and Originations has laid the foundation!

In a Community numb to illegal activity, alcoholism, drugs and weapons ... In a community decorated with poverty ... In a community less significant to the world in every aspect of its being ... it is amazingly comforting to know there is someone strong enough, brave enough and uninhibited enough to create something different...to be original. To bring a "nation" within this community where people of all ages strive physically, emotionally, socially...OCAC is the best! They do great things for (young) people on the inside which is the only way to give them power of what happens on the outside!!!

Origination has performed at our Boston Celtics games for the past 2 seasons. They've done an amazing job of using their talent and unique character to bring entertainment to our fans, and will remain a staple in our pre-game entertainment for years to come.
