this is my business

As you step inside the landmark storefront at 429 Washington Street - past the familiar blue and white awning with The E.B. Horn Company: Established 1839 simply stated on the front and the large picture window filled with glittering gems and gold- there is a sense of being transported back in time. The store's original chandelier still hangs from above. Of course, much has changed since Edwin B. Horn founded the E.B. Horn Company 165 years ago. Yet the look of the now famous jewelry store, the feeling of family and the old-fashioned traditions of quality, service and value have remained intact. Today, The E.B. Horn Company is the last jewelry store of its size in New England that is still family-owned and run. The store boasts one of the largest selections of diamonds, jewelry and watches in New England. It has a comprehensive estate jewelry department which specializes in both buying and selling - attracting customers and dealers from all over the world. In fact, it has been said that The E.B. Horn Company sells more jewelry per square foot than any other jewelry store in the country.

I had a bad fall and bent my tiffany engagement ring. Because of the reputation of EB Horn I took it there to be repaired (I used to work in the jewelry business in Boston). EB horn also sized my ring a few months ago and did a job then. However I am NOT RECOMMENDING them. I asked that the setting of my ring be checked and instead the signiture knife edge of my tiffany solitare was polished to a thin ring a completely different style now and very thin, so much so I worry it may be compromised and break. I went back to speak to the manager expecting only an apology and perhaps a refund of the repair costs ( a mere $40). I thanked the owner for taking time to see me and he (Richard the owner and manager) and before I was able to speak my concern he cut me off and told the ring was old and thin and in poor condition to begin with. I had a photo of my ring from a few months ago when I first received it to show the difference and he barely looked at it. He did admit to it being over polished and when I asked for a refund he said he wanted to think about because he didn't see what was in for him. He then began to make judgements stating my behavior was inappropriate, but all the while never would straight out say he was denying a refund so he could technically get away with being able to say he didn't no. I am still waiting to hear back from him. My setting is ruined. Please do not take the risk. Also, if you have anything sized smaller they try to keep the extra metal which is rightfully yours.
