The Original Pancake House was founded in Portland, Oregon in 1953 by Les Highet and Erma Hueneke. Drawing upon their many years of experience in the culinary field, and their extensive working knowledge of authentic national and ethnic pancake recipes they were able to offer without compromise this unique and original menu which has gained national acclaim. The Original Pancake House is a second and third generation family business, which takes great pride in maintaining the high standards that make our food so outstanding. We now have over one hundred franchises from coast to coast, which have won local and national acclaim. Our recipes demand only the very finest of ingredients, such as 93 score butter, pure 36% whipping cream, fresh grade AA eggs, hard wheat unbleached flour, and our own recipe sourdough starter. Our batters and sauces are made fresh in each restaurant’s kitchen.

We went for the first time Sunday for my DH 30th. It was the best breakfast ever. My son says everyone else has pancraps. This is the only place for Pancakes. The 49ers were awesome. Just like at NMU. We fed a family of 5 (almost 6) for $32.00. There is a location near you. Enjoy
Nothing beats the original's corned beef hash and eggs up with cakes on the side!
Get a cup of Joe and the sports page with your booth.
i havent been here in awhile but i do remember that the pancakes here are AMAZING. :D
The Apple Pancake Supreme w/cinnamon ice cream is THE BEST!!! On the weekends, the line is out the door, but the line usually moves fast, so don't let it discourage you from waiting!
Many years ago, during my first visit, I asked for sausage patties well drained. The waitress told me they only serve them that way. She was right. The greatest care is taken to serve the best food ever, with only the best ingredients. My all-time favorite restaurant!
The Apple Pancake is the best! All of their selections are high quality, from their 3-egg omelettes to their pigs-in-a-blanket to their Dutch Baby. The only thing you won't find there is Soda Pop--but their Hot Chocolate will make you forget all about that. You can't say you've ever really had breakfast until you've tried it at the Original Pancake House.
Biggest decision is what to eat...so many great things to choose from. Hardest thing is to keep myself from totally stuffing myself.
OPH is my favorite place for breakfast. Even waiting in line for 1/2 hour on the weekend is worth it. My favorite diet-buster is the Apple Pancake Supreme with the cinnamon ice cream (from Ray's)! Several local restaurants try to duplicate the OPH menu, but none compare to the original.
Best coffee-worth the wait if there is one & get the pancakes for a side instead of toast-they melt in you mouth, they are so yummy.
It has always been our favorite breakfast place, first in Grosse Pointe, then in Southfield when we moved to the west side. The food is great.
Their French toast is by far the best French toast in the country, if not the world! Trust me, I've had ALOT of French toast!
I love their Dutch baby with powdered sugar and lemon and marvelous spicy sausages.
Best breakfast around. I love their Swedish Pancakes! And the price point is right. Only problems are that everyone else seems to think so too and the lines are a hassle and the staff can get impatient.
