After reading that this shop was the Best of Boston - I made this my first stop for bridal shopping - It was an awful experience! First of all, I was not asked about my preferences - e.g., the gown I was looking for, where I was getting married, the setting, nothing....when I tried to provide details I was ignored . This all happened while this older woman on the staff picked up gowns she wanted me to try on - ushered me to the dressing room with her and my maid of honor demanding that I try these dresses on despite my expressed dislike for the gowns she selected. She then proceeded to explain that the dresses she choose were because my breasts were too large and she didn't want to see them hanging out of other gowns! After her refusal to provide me with other choices, she said "Good Luck!" This all happened within approximately 10 minutes. Although their website indicates that they service a wide range of sizes, including plus sizes, I was taken to a rack of twenty dresses where "BIG SIZES" are - aka sizes 12 and up and was told that this was all they had for "someone like me". I am disappointed and found this experience dreadful - LOOK ELSEWHERE!

After trying on over 100 dresses, I found just what I was looking for in the FIRST dress I tried on at The Altered Bride! Great service, too.

I found my dress at the Altered Bride -- it was a shocker! Deep crimson on top...but truly elegant. They were the only shop that I found that carried really unique dresses.
When I wanted to make some alterations to the design of the dress, the Altered Bride was so helpful. They patiently met with me on numerous occasions and helped to mold it into the dress of my dreams!

The Altered Bride was the last place I visited, and the first place I finally tried on a dress that made me think, "THIS is the one!!!" I was able to make all of the little changes to my gown that made it truly mine, and Rosanna and her staff were wonderfully attentive and supportive throughout the process. Finally, their amazing selection of accessories provided me with the perfect headpiece, veil, and shoes.

The staff there was very knowledgeable and simply out of this world. I am one of those hands on guys that like to help wifey with everything. I learned so much about weddings dresses from the short period of time that I spent there. My appreciation for woman and their endeavor for the perfect dress is now at w hole new level. I love this place! The gowns are beautiful ... the women I worked with were honest and talented ... and everyone was so friendly! I'm so happy I came here - I got everything: a gown, headpiece, veil, and even a handbag.

You can't beat the service! they keep you on track by contacting you to remind you to schedule fittings. they work with you on finding the right accessories, and will tell you which ones don't look good - so nice to hear honesty! and if you are working on an original or heirloom, the seamstress, maria, is bar-none the best!

The Altered Bride made my dream wedding a real. After a long day of bridal shopping and trying on 100 dresses that weren't right for me, I was a little exasperated by the time I walked into the Altered Bride. That all changed, however, the minute I met Roseanna Martino. She made me feel like a princess. She asked me what I wanted and what I envisioned and in a flourish presented me with a handful of dresses to choose from, one of which was my DREAM dress. The personal attention and attention to DETAIL made working with Roseanna and the entire staff of the Altered Bride the most pleasant experience. Not to mention the fact that Maria, the seamstress, is exceptionally talented! I loved the whole experience and have even gone back with my wedding album to show off how exquisite the dress looked on the Big Day!

I was married two years ago and bought my dress there after looking at some of the other nominees. The service was outstanding and the choices of dresses was excellent. I was an older bride and did not want the conventional dress. Roseanne was wonderful and was always available to give advice. I loved this place!

Simply a great bridal salon experience. After spending 20 min listening to me, the consultant selected three dresses for me to try on. I bought the very first one -- on the spot. She could not have done a better job finding a dress that suits my body, style and personality to a t. Quality and selection of the dresses are top-notch (including a lot of originals) and the service is HEAD-AND-SHOULDERS above the other Boston salons. Welcoming atmosphere, no pressure, no attitude....just the fun once-in-a-lifetime experience it's SUPPOSED to be for a bride.

Restoring my grandmother's bridal dress for me was my dream come true! This salon really knows what to do with an antique gown--they repaired, restyled, cleaned and made this tiny dress fit me and my modern personality. I am so grateful to have been able to walk down the aisle with my grandmother's gown on and feeling she was part of my special day. Thank you Altered Bride!!

The altered bride went out of its way to work with me under crazy circumstances -- I was living on another continent at the time and only returned two weeks before the wedding. All alterations were made in time, but they were hardly necessary! I was able to pick the top of one dress, the bottom of another and straps from a third. They took extensive measurements, and when I got my GORGEOUS dress and put it on it fit like a glove. I actually gasped. They were wonderful and very accommodating.
