Cambridge Music Center has a wide selection of guitars, percussion instruments, music books, amps, sheet music, and lesson books. The store, located across the street from the Porter Square T station, offers instruction in 14 different instruments, including voice. The store has been recognized locally as one of the best places to buy and sell musical equipment.

They're honest. No pressure to buy. Been going there for 20 years and was treated in my teens the same as I am now. With respect. And the rock stars don't get any more than anyone else.
