Diesel Cafe in Davis Square Somerville has pool tables, cafe tables, and booths for customers to bring their laptops and newspapers and stay a while. The cafe gets a good crowd of young college and graduate students. It serves healthy juices and sandwiches and has a solid assortment of fresh bake goods. It also has a pool table, and not many coffee shops have one of those.

Good coffee selection and a hip joint
What makes the Diesel Cafe stand out? Great coffee drinks and stellar sandwiches, a dedicated and friendly staff, and a lively space that exhibits interesting art and fosters a spirit of community. And the management uses their "frequent flier" program to actively support community groups and local charities.
The recent expansion has made it a lot more comfortable.
Great coffee, great staff, great atmosphere.
They have the best sandwiches and the best attitude. Their is no better place to study and grab a beverage of your choice on a rainy afternoon.
The only cafe I've found to serve a Vietnamese coffee, perfect for my sweet tooth!
