The oldest restaurant in Greektown, New Hellas Cafe is famous for its classic Greek dishes and decor. It is consistently one of Detroit's best restaurants, with delicious cuisine and fantastic service. New Hellas is consistently considered one of Greektown's best restaurants!

My grandpa took my mom and Uncle when they were little, my mom took my sister and I when we were little and I got to take my new daugter on the last weekend it was open. I loved the Hellas and I will miss Gus! The food was amazing. The Hellas will always be the best ever!!!

Can't believe they are gone.... I miss that place. Dave was my waiter. He was the best!!!!!! i agree the lamb chops were the best!!!!!!!

In memory of Gus and Zoe - Hellas has my vote!!! Will always have my vote. I have loved this place for 36 of my 51 years. Seeing Stella, eating THE BEST lamb chops in the world, a great glass of wine, a kiss from Gus. What more can a Detroit girl ask for??? Was there on it's last night of operation - Easter Sunday 2008 - very sad day for Greektown indeed!! No pretense here, just excellent food and a great time! OPA!!!!!!!!

If you know Greektown you know Hella's is where it's at!!!!!!!!!!! The best everything, awesome staff...I love how the people who work there are lifer's! My Uncle said one of the guys there has been there for like 40+ years...

I used go to Hellas with my grandparents and their neighbors back in the '60's when they lived in Lafayette Park~Great memories and food. Though grandma/pa are gone, me and my family enjoy Hella's still.

We have been to others in Greektown, but this restaurant is the one we love the most. We've always regretted our decision when we've gone to a different restaurant.

Great Greek food . It's a family style atmosphere and just take to the Greek Islands for a moment in time. The service is excellent. Lunch or dinner it's the best.

The opportunity to have a meal at Hellas when I am visiting Detroit is an experience I ALWAYS look forward to. Whether it was a late lunch after wondering around downtown or a cozy supper after a Tigers or Wings game, the food and service can be trusted to be wonderful. My husband and I usually begin the meal sharing the saganaki flaming cheese, yummy! We then each order the traditional Greek salad to accompany our respective entrees. He experiments with trying something new from the menu while I remain faithful to the chicken kabob. Just simply the best!

They have the best Vegetarian Mousaka around. When we go there with brother-in-law Jim every meal is a PARTY!

I have always come back here after straying into others. Gus is the best. I miss seeing Stella there too.
