Dalessandro's
Roxborough is where you can find the #1 cheesesteak in Philly. They're cheap, they're delicious, the lines are short and there's no obnoxious sideshow.
At Dalessandro's they take the extra step to melt the cheese in with the steak which makes it just a little gooier than the competition. It makes the difference. -
John's Roast Pork
I come here for the roast pork sandwich, but they still make one of the finest cheesesteaks in the city. Go early (before the lunch crowd hits) if you have any hope of getting out there quickly.

Jim's Steaks
The only "world-famous" cheesesteak place worth waiting in line for in my opinion. Onions and provolone is just great. Extra points for its great location on South Street.
-
Chink's Steaks
The name is controversial (get over it -- its his name), but there is no disagreement that they make one of the finest cheesesteaks in the city.

Tony Luke's Old Philly Style Sandwiches
Tony Luke's made me a believer of the steak italian with cheese and broccoli rabe.
