My favorite burgers in Boston

Burgers should be relatively thick-pattied with a good choice of toppings. While I'm not the biggest fan of cheese, it can help out in the taste department -- it certainly won't make or break the burger.

Miracle of Science
The Ronie Burger at Miracle is one of the more unique burgers in Boston. They throw diced jalapenos in with the ground beef to make the patties. It serves to pack the flavor (and heat) in with the patty. Topped with cheese, fresh tomato and lettuce -- very good ($7).
They don't have a fryilator so the potato side consists of hashbrowns with a delicious chutney dipping sauce. I've never figured out exactly what is in it, but I have to guess some sort of apricot/sun-dried tomato mixture. -
Mr. Bartley's Burger Cottage
Bartley's belongs on any burger list. While sometimes its tough to deal with the lines, the burgers are great. I get the Mitt Romney which has grilled onions + cheese ($9).

The Publick House
I order this one medium with caramelized onions, swiss and beer mustard. Sweet and tangy. The fries are just OK -- I prefer the Belgian frites ($10 with toppings).

Washington Square Tavern
WST is very much a "grown-up" burger. Massive 1/2 lb patty served with a sourish pickle spread. It's not for everyone, but I was very impressed. A bit on the pricey side ($13)

Joe Sent Me
Very good burgers -- I'm partial to the Jose Caliente (jalapenos and cheese) and the Boilermaker (BBQ, bacon, cheddar). I always opt for the sweet potato fries because they're just good ($8).
