this is my business

For more than 10 years, native Austinites Billy and Brenda “Ms. B” McGowan have brought unique and authentic Creole cuisine to Austin. Billy McGowan has decades of experience in the restaurant business, having worked as a chef for eateries ranging from burger joints to church kitchens to New Orleans’ renowned Chez Helène. Brenda McGowan is a former nurse and hospital administrator as well as a businesswoman and formally trained chef. The husband-and-wife team opened their first restaurant, McGowan’s Cajun Kitchen, in Pflugerville in 1994. In 2000, they opened the first Ms. B’s location on Mesa Drive. Following the success of the first Ms. B’s, the couple opened a second location on East 11th Street in early 2006. This large and upscale new restaurant serves as a vibrant part of the revitalization of East Austin, and the McGowans are excited to be part of the area’s resurgence.

This is the worst experience I have ever had. The food is overpriced the service was terrible. I ordered from the lunch menu and noticed that several items were listed under the number "12". My friend explained to me that this is the price of all the items on the lunch menu. I ordered Shrimp Etouffee' served over Rice. The waiter brings out this huge bowl on a plate.

He sat it down, and to my amazement, I see a scoop of rice smaller than a ice cream scoop, just enough gravy to barely cover the bottom and four shrimp. I could not believe my eyes. If it wasn't for my friend I would have got up and walked out of the place. I give this place about 2months before it goes out of business. When you talk about cajun, creole, you are talking about generous portions of food. I can't them staying in business for much longer... I could have spent much less at lunch and had much more. I dropped my friend off and went back to work. The first thing I did was go to the cafeteria at my job and order LUNCH. I forked over five bucks and enjoyed every bit of it. The "B" should stand for Bull****! I will NEVER go there again.
