They have unique and affordable art in a fun setting. The proprietors are very friendly and helpful. Plus they host concerts in the summer that are delightful.
Matilda's is a one of a kind experience...I go visit just for the spiritual lift it provides when I'm feeling down. The immediate feeling of the place is definitely funky, unquestionably fun, and always welcoming and relaxed...and for those of you who've never been? Be sure to ask for Izzy.
Matilda's brings art to everyone! No pretensions, no intimidation, allowing all kinds of people to enjoy the thrill of buying original artwork that will bring joy for years to come.
The folk art brings joy to my heart every time I visit. You can't help but smile and admire.
Mary Jane has a fantastic selection of folk art by very talented artists... Always a friendly atmosphere....and the summer Friday evening concerts are great
This is the place I take my out of town guests- as they all comment that they all love it and have never seen anything like this before! This is the place where you can find a truly unique piece of art at an affordable price. (The high end is available too for those without budget challenges.) This is a great place to shop for gifts for the hardest people to please on your gift list - all price ranges offered. This is a gallery without pretension that is cozy fit for all who enter. In short, I love this gallery!!!
Matilda's is a great find. I see something I want to purchase every time I visit. The collection of local artists is unmatchable and the atmosphere is funky but warm. Friday night music is an experience, as you sit among the young and old under the stars while the bands are jamming. If you have never been there, you should.
On Friday nights, out back, under the pines, people gather to hear live music. Last Friday Bill Sherman...blues man...was playing. The music is a variety of styles, whomever they can book..but the fun part is relaxing under the pines, chairs and small tables provided, bring your own beverage and even picnic if you prefer. Some people bring lawn chairs. The setting is great...Mary Jane has all kinds of eclectic art, art objects surrounding the place, even 2 vintage Scotty travel trailers parked nearby. A little 3 room building (called the hen house) is full of art from artists all over the US, and from the front porch of the "hen house" is where the musicians stand and play. It's all very laid back and casual...Sept 14th is going to feature a local artist who tours nationally, Honi Deaton, and that should be a fantastic show. Come check out the place...you will love it.
