In 1991, Dave and Ron added partner Larry Gromer who opened the Gladstone location that same year. Over the next few years the trio opened two more restaurants giving them a presence in the four corners of the Kansas City metropolitan area. Things have not always been easy for the trio. Protecting their original location from nature's own destruction has become somewhat of a cottage industry for the company. Three times between 1986 and 1998 the area of Kansas City on Southwest Boulevard, home to ?The Original' Margarita's, was flooded. In 1993 Margarita's gained national attention as news media descended on Kansas City to cover the floods and it's effects on local businesses. Pictures of Dave and the crews cleaning up and persevering made national television news and print media. Mother nature proved no match for the owners and employees of Margarita's. Each time, the Margarita's staff brought the restaurant back to life and kept ?The Original' an award winning dining destination on the Boulevard.
