Opened June, 1983 Le Panier (translated "bread basket") was created by a Frenchman living in the U.S. who missed his daily baguette and croissant. He brought in French bakers and began baking... reflecting what you would find in a local boulangerie (bakery) and patisserie (pastry shop) in France. Le Panier immediately became a popular destination for visitors to Pike Place Market, as well as our friends in Seattle. Located at the corner of Stewart Street & Pike Place, in the heart of the market, we celebrate twenty-plus years of serving you. We have worked hard to develop Le Panier into what it is today: a genuine taste of France. The success of Le Panier is its consistent product quality - fresh ingredients, no preservatives, baked every day on site - always keeping in mind the traditional breads and pastries of France.

Mmmm.....I just love everything about this place. The smell that draws you in from outside, the bread, the eclairs, the really, really good lattes, the window seats...all so heavenly on a cold winter morning.
Whenever I need a little comfort or soothing I always make a trip down to Le Panier for a baguette and coffee. Immediately, I feel like I'm back in Paris - one of my all time favorite destinations.
I've gotten my two sisters, brother, mother and fiancee hooked on this place as well. Drama ensues if I've learned that any have made a Le Panier trip without me :)
