Shelves filled with multicultural titles and themes are illuminated by expansive plate glass windows. It was important to the owners to offer a wide variety of hard-to-find tales that reflect views from around the world and the neighborhood. In addition to the African content there’s a generous selection of Spanish material reflecting the demographic of the neighborhoods just west of Corktown. Ladels also features spiritual books.

This is where children and books should meet. The perfect place to enjoy the reading experience. Parents and children of all ages can find something to enjoy. The staff is awesome. The atmosphere is magical. The gardens are breathtaking. The assortment of books and toys are unmatched. This is Heaven.

A unique learning experience for children of all ages. From story-telling to "tea parties". Ladels brings out the child in all of us.
This setting and the themed activities, encourage children to read and expand their minds.
It is too bad not many children are taking advantage of this educational experience.

I love the location, and the staff are so "kid-friendly". I love their theme parties and the children get a kick out of it as well. Wow, I just love these spots in the city where you can relax and know that your children are in such a warm and safe environment.

Ladel's is the best spot in Detroit if you want your child to love reading! The Story Hours, Tea Parties and Bike Parades not to mention to the reading variety all help to make reading fun for children of all ages.

Ladels Books has books from every corner of the globe. I found books in Tagalog and Spanish. With a story hour and even magic classes for Harry Potter fans, it is the most rewarding and educational children's experience in the city!
