Founded in 2002 in the Outer Richmond district, JAPONICA brings a much needed gift boutique to the northwest corner of San Francisco and has established itself as both a reputable full-service florist and a uniquely stocked gift boutique. The wide array of gifts and flowers are always changing. JAPONICA features works of art created by local designers, painters and jewelers. While the front sidewalk always has an eye-catching display of fresh flowers, once inside, clients marvel at the treasures artistically displayed. Among the french soaps and scented candles, you will find silver jewelry from Paris, hand-painted plates from Turkey, linen from Sweden, porcelain vases from Thailand, locally designed hand knotted jewelry, cashmere and silk scarves from Nepal among others. Not to be missed are the exotic air plants.

Best flower and gift shop in San Francisco! I go there EVERY TIME I'm in the Bay Area. The service is AMAZING! Val Nara knows so much about flowers and has such a brilliant eye for arranging. The store has so many unique items, if you're looking for a great gift that no one else could get too, be sure you go to Japonica.
Val has great unique stuff, just like her! Whenever i'm out in her hood, I try to stop by to see what new goodies she has, or I go there, if i need a unique gift, or a fabulous bouquet of flowers!!!....these have been BEAUTIFUL!
There's no one like Val, and no shop like Japonica - for that very special something, and a gorgeous bouquet to go with it. Everything in the store tickles the senses, and in every corner is tucked a hidden gem. Awesome.
I absolutely looooove Japonica!!!! It is my favorite place to shop for gifts or to get a custom floral arrangement- I just absolutely have to go there every time I'm in the Richmond District.
