September 2005 will be a celebratory month for Jack n’ Jill’s of Beverly Hills. The popular Beverly Hills eatery, which specializes in gourmet comfort food with a Southern accent and California flair, is opening up a second location in Santa Monica. September 2005 also marks the one-year anniversary of this popular Beverly Hills restaurant. Chef/Owner Rob Benson, and his three partners, were so inspired by the response to their Beverly Hills restaurant that they decided to open a second location on September 15, 2005. The new Jack n’ Jill’s will be located at 510 Santa Monica Boulevard (at the corner of 5th Street) in Santa Monica. The bi-level restaurant will seat about forty customers and specialize in a quicker turnaround than the Beverly Hills location. The new eatery will also specialize in express service, where customers will place their order, receive a number, place the number on their table, and receive their food from a server in a timely manner. The Santa Monica Jack n’ Jill’s will offer the same diverse four-page menu that has made the Beverly Hills location a local favorite. Jack n’ Jill’s offers breakfast all day (because breakfast is Benson’s favorite meal), a wide range of appetizers, sandwiches, wraps, salads, and sides, as well as suppers. Phenomenal favorites include ginger chicken mango salad, Brie pear panini, four-egg omelettes, buttermilk pancakes, Wylie Texas chili, spinach and artichoke dip, the J & J club sandwich (with smoked turkey breast, honey-cured ham, Havarti and Gouda cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, and mayo, piled three layers high), Jill’s Caesar salad (with or without grilled or blackened chicken or Tri-tip steak), and Louisiana banana cream pudding (a velvety pale yellow dream). Scratch cooking and baking makes a definitive difference -- Benson and company use the freshest ingredients available and create dishes that taste absolutely delicious. They also offer a wide range of homemade desserts, including fabulous cupcakes (chocolate, vanilla, and coconut), cookies (chocolate chip, mint chip, rocky road, peanut butter, etc.), scones, muffins, and cakes (pink and white cake with vanilla-lemon frosting, 3-layer bittersweet chocolate cake, Alabama Lane cake, with creamy coconut-raisin filling and brown sugar-pecan frosting). Benson notes, “We are thrilled to be opening our second location almost one year, to the day, of opening our first restaurant. Our customers have been incredibly supportive and we have been very gratified by their response and dedication. By opening our second location, in Santa Monica, we will be expanding our reach and bringing our unique concept to a wider group of diners. We envision opening more Jack n’ Jill’s, in different parts of Los Angeles, over the next few years.” Benson, and his partners, opened Jack n’ Jill’s of Beverly Hills at 342 North Beverly Drive, in Beverly Hills, in September of 2004. They have distinguished themselves, in the competitive restaurant arena on the Westside of Los Angeles, by serving up superb food made with high-quality ingredients. Delivery and catering are available from both locations.
