Located in the Folk Capital of the Nation's Capital, HMT specializes in folk/acoustic instruments from around the world. We also carry instructional books & DVDs, general interest music books, and CDs from DC-area artists. We rent instruments, buy/sell/trade, repair instruments of all kinds, do appraisals, and have an extensive lessons program. We can also provide sound system rentals, referrals for local musicians and much more! Our knowledgeable staff looks forward to serving your musical needs.

I love chatting with the knowledgeable staff at this store. They are very skilled and love sharing their knowledge and passion for musical instruments. They are also very patient when you want to try out an instrument. I will be buying a new instrument at this store this week, even though I could purchase it for less elsewhere. Why? I cherish what this store offers to the community.

HMT is staffed by knowledgeable musicians and fills a definite need in the acoustic music community, not only for instruments and supplies but for repairs, lessons, concerts, and for general support. It is the center of a community, not just a store.
