I recently tried their new Oceanside location, and it was a dreadful experience.
Initially the hostess and then the manager refused to let us sit where we wanted. There were several seats available on the patio (all accommodating the same number of people), but he said we either had to sit at the table he had designed, or we wouldn't be seated. Shortly after we were seated, the table we wanted was given to people who arrived shortly after we did. The table hadn't been reserved. The manager should have left his attitude at home and not brought it to work!
I had the chicken teriyaki. It was burned so badly that almost half the serving was inedible. The portion was also very small. I left hungry, so I went across the street to a Dairy Queen to quench my appetite.
Two of my guests had sushi. They're sushi fanatics and said they would rank the sushi "average" at best. They found it interesting that so few sauces were available. When they asked for two alternatives, they were charged 50 cents for each one, which was a first for them in sushi restaurants.
One of my guests had the beef teriyaki. It was also a very small portion, and the beef was also burned. In fact, it looked like dried jerkey.
Note: If you like to eat in a restaurant with a lot of unbearable music, you may like this place.

Best selection os specialty rolls I've ever seen. Don't let it's location in Old Town fool you, this place is the best in San Diego.

I ate here. It was very noisy here. They cranked the music sooo l o u d you can't really
go with another person and have a conversation. The food, so so. Over all...I would never go back there. Too many other good places to eat out at.

I've always had great experiences at Harney. You're taken care of...and I'm never let down by the food. I'm no critic, but I give them 2 thumbs..way up!!!

Honestly, I'm not a huge sushi fan. But I was there with friends once and was surprised to really enjoy it. Harney's menu has something for everyone..even me! I'll definitely go back!

This is the BEST Sushi I have ever eaten! The atmosphere is the best and the wait staff and the management are all top rate. Special praise goes to Kirk and Dustin....Way to go guys! You rock!

Harney is a jewel in Old Town! I have been going there since it opened six years ago and I always bring my friends! It's a great place to enjoy a live DJ while feasting on great modern sushi treats. I recommend sitting at the bar and trying something "off the menu."

Harney's atmosphere is fantastic. The waitresses are helpful and energetic. The sushi is very unique; the names of the sushi relate very well with its presentation. Lastly, this sushi bar is quite unusual because it is located the middle of historic old town.

I've been a Harney Loyalist for over a year now. The vibe is chill, and the crowd is fun. Of the million times I've gone to Harney, I've never been let down. The music is great -- I absolutely love going on Thursday nights (Reggae) and Saturdays (Hip-Hop). I've tried about 80% of the specialty sushi menu, and all are delicious. My personal favorites are the Orange Krush and the Miso Harney. I take just about everyone I know, and it's the first place that pops into mind when I'm thinking sushi.
